Event Description

Late notice I know but I'm planning on doing a route from Edmundbyers on Sat morning (the Bolts Law route from MBR). I've done most of the route but wanted to try out the supposedly fantastic track on Bolts Law.

Start in Edmundbyers, over to Blanchland on road or over the moor depending on energy levels, up to slaley wood, back round and down, up to Bolts Law then downhill all the way back to Edmundbyers. About 22 miles so it'll take a few hours.

I've shown where I believe you can park in a lay by near the village but if anyone knows a better place can they stick it on the map? I think you can park at the pub but don't know where that is.

Damn good route, with just that odd section of deep mud. That long road climb up from Baysbridge to where you turn off for Bolts Law goes on for ever though. Didn't think much of the singletrack down from Bolts Law, not worth going in my opinion. ;) Had a comedy moment on the last descent back into Edmundbyers - near the bottom there are 2 stream crossings. Came charging into the first to carry some speed to get up the short / steep bank, failed miserably to manual into it, front wheel stuck in and went over the bars into a nice soft, squelchy landing.

Don't finish work till 6am Sunday morning, so having a few hours sleep then heading up there at about 12ish. Cycled around Stanhope/Rookhope/Crawlyside Bank a few times and always enjoyed it. Should be good

Guys if there is not too many cars, there is apple space where the route turns off the b6303. The bridley way. And also opposite it there is also space for cars to park. This is where i park when riding in that area. And it does not inconvenient and land lords

I suppose if you buy a beer/coke or something before or after the ride they would be ok!

I've got to do it in the morning, things to do in the afternoon unfortunately. It's only a small place so the pub should be easy to find I'd imagine. Do they not mind MTBers parking there? Cheers for the extra info.
