Fun wasn't it? Yep, I clocked it at 59.5 miles which I managed to do in 3:58 on my '93 Kona Cindercone (with a 5 minute refuel stop at the pub on the roundabout). Was nice to have a chat with some bloke about my bike on the ride who was asking me how much was still original and if I wanted to sell it. Random. Did anyone else see the home made 4 man tandem with motocross tyres on? I'd like to have seen how they got round some of those sharp corners.
Or all the roadies in winter survival gear?
I think it's getting a bit big to have the start on open roads, I witnessed a lot of close calls with cars in those first 10 miles so it doesn't surprise me someone got killed. Sad. Hope they improve the situation for next year.

I made it! only just. I lost the will to live at one point - but I'm well chuffed as I've never cycled this far before and it was my first ever event!! Sadly witnessed the air rescue of a male cyclist, and I've shed a tear today as I read in the paper he died! My thoughts are so with his family x
