March ERFD - in April?!

Sorry for my lethargy in organising this months ERFD, I've been struggling to get a date in the diary where I can get out for the full day, and being a selfish git, this has meant that my motivation to organise the ride has been lacking!

Anyway, how does the 5th April in the lakes sound? Riding from Keswick to do the Borrowdale Bash.

I'll post route details etc once I get a proper PC back online (mine has died) but from memory it's sub 20 miles, some cracking descents and tough climbs and plenty of options for food en-route. Perfect.

Meet at 10 for a 10.30 start as usual, I'll confirm where to park closer to the time.

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm absolutely knackered today! Great ride yesterday though.....slept like a baby!!

Dave, we'll try and sort out sharing a lift somehow but I'll post over on mtbe so Vern, Shaun and whoever else see it. We need to park in the bays that don't have a leisure centre sign - ie not the first two or three but the ones along the railway line a bit.

In case anyone is unsure:

Meet at Keswick Leisure Centre (map here). To get there take the A66, miss the first turn off to Keswick (I think its the A591) and instead carry on to the roundabout, where you take a left onto the A5271 (signed towards keswick).

Take the next left onto Brundholme Road (signed to the leisure centre) and about 1/2 mile up on the right is the leisure centre.

When you pull into the car park, turn immediately left and park in the bays along the old railway line. Get there for 10 aiming to set off for 10.30.

Just watched the videos of the route on Crispy's blog for the first time. Looks like good riding although what's the betting we miss the gate at 2:45 on the watendlath to rosthwaite vid?

Hi Dave,

It's postcode is CA12 4NF‎ . I've tried getting a Gmap link to work but have failed miserably. Take the second exit of the A66 for keswick, first left then its down a bit on the right.

Chris, do you still have the directions to get to the leisure centre? I'll probably recognise it when I see it, but just to be sure......
