MTB North East

Everything about Mountain Biking in the North East of England

Went up to Glentress on Friday with the wife so I thought I'd just be having a laugh on the blue route with her then possibly a quick blast on the red on my own. How wrong I was: she'd booked me on to the XC course that Dirt School run as an early birthday present. I can't recommend it highly enough: I learnt more about bike handling in that day than I did in the previous 10 years. The guy taking the class (Andy Barlow) is a national XC champion and has done the black route at Glenners in 1 hour 31 so he knows a few things. Finished the day coming down Spooky Wood & Super G putting all the skills into practice (although they don't teach you how to jump on this course) putting it all into practice. I'm still grinning now from the rush.

If you want to get better check them out.

I did one at GT a while back (not with Dirtschool), which was OK but nothing fantastic. I think it depends on the group - I was with a beginner and a guy who only rode on fireroads previously so the day was geared around basic skills. Sounds like yours was a bit better.
