I am having a break now from mountain biking but still going to finish the cyclo cross league just so i dont completely go rusty. Thinking of going to dalby after the new year to blow the cobwebs off and get some early training before the kielder ...
Yeah it was that first drop,it was a bit slippy going down there, especially with a back wheel locked up and not slowing down, lol. The last lap killed me too,the mud was bad enough at the start but on the third lap it was awful, like riding through ...
Well done mark thats not a bad time without a front brake. I think i did see the lass who broke her leg. Did she do it on the first drop off going into the woods. Didnt realise she had broke it could see she was in a bit of pain. Dont know about y...
I was in the same group as you Ray,in fact Im sure I saw you down by the toilets. I was somewhat slower at 1hr 50mins having popped a front brake seal on the first lap and trying to control the muddy downhill sections near the roller coaster with ...
Hi call me ray. I race xc as much as i can. kielder marathon series. merida marathons. 6 hour enduros, mountain mayhem this year hopefully. I love doing c2c & other fun events allenheads to roker, durham big ride, etc etc. married with 2 kids. work at trw peterlee as a lead op.
hello mate. i'm off to eurodisney tonight, will get back early hours of sunday morning, was thinking about the cross race at southshields on sunday. will see how i feel on my return. see you around mate. good luck
Hi ray,
Sorry but just picked up your message. Shame as you would have been made very welcome. Saturday night piss up was quite epic with only 6 of the 26 starters making day two of the ride. Mind you we had a few injuries to take into consideration including a badly gashed knee and three broken ribs in the DH race alone. There were some fantastic old bikes out there and they were riden hard, 8 hours in the saddle on saturday and a lap of Dalby on sunday. There was a modern Orange 5 (reserve bike due to regular bike breaking) that could only manage 9th in the standings. I managed to get my 1987 FAT CHANCE into 4th- first fully rigid home and oldest bike in the DH race.
We will be up in Guisbrough and going over Urra to Commondale and back next month if you fancy coming along?
Cheers for that Ray,Ill have a look. Unfortunatley Im not doing the merida due to family commitments. Ive just bought a new road bike which I also do a bit of,Im gonna stick a pic up now so you can let me know what you think. Thanks again,Mark.
As it happens I'm away to Kielder this weekend to try out the Deadwater Trail. If the weather's reasonable I'm planning on camping out and making a weekend of it, try out a few of the other routes in the area.
I'm just having a look at the Kielder Marathon Series now and it looks promising although I'm not sure at the moment whether I'll be able to make the July round because of other commitments; October should be fine though, I just need to find my cheque book.
Hi Ray,
It's Ian from work. I've been told you want to speak to me. I'm on night shift this week, you should have my mobile number, if not you can get it off Corrine in reception, don't want to put it on this website in case some nutter gets a hold of it.
Regards
Ian
Great result Ray, glad you enjoyed it. Was it on the new course they have built for the XC champs?
I was going to be leading the Hamsterley ride, but I've just realised it clashes with the jumping for Dummies day so I've asked if someone else can lead this one, and I'll do one of the ones later in the year.
HI Ray, I was never planning to do them - when you set up an event it adds you as attending automatically and I'd forgotten to change it on those ones. Not really my scene racing - to fat & unfit, It's alright for you whippets but hauling 18 stone and a 35lbish bike around a race would kill me!
