Hi,

I am fascinated just how many big names got took in with this scam you would think the names you have mentioned that they would be on the Look out for scams like this, I don't know how hard it would have been to check it out by some of the big names in cycling to just phone or e-mail Newcastle City Council like I did and this would have shown up as a scam from the start.

It only took me five minutes to e-mail Newcastle City Council the next day I got the reply as you would have seen on the form even Newcastle City Council did not know about this event as they are the ones that would have had all the information but they had less than us.

I would have contacted Newcastle City Council back in July but the event was in the MBUK Mag and felt they would have done all the checking needed but as you have said in your post this was advertised in MUBK - World Cup Fort william 2009 -Internet - Local Competitions.

I think may be Newcastle City Council may get in touch with the Police as this involves them as they would have had to close the roads for the event and now as we know it was a Scam and I feel more that 450 People would have paid money in my view at 65 Pound this takes the total to £ 29.250 pound just with 450 entry fees.

On the web site it said at the time Stephen Murray Donations Area + Merch Stephen was in a BMX accident you can read more about his story at his own web site here: http://www.stephenmurraybmx.com/n_read_more.php?IX=2

It just goes to show the criminals did there home work it is a shame our Cycling organisations did not do there bit to expose this scan sooner.

Regards Anthony Dacko.

Paypal are normally quite good, set up a dispute with them as soon as poss. You might get your money back easier that way.

I don't know anything more than anyone else, just heard some crack at a recent event. There's lots of people wanting their money back, including me.
