carbon advice

Im looking at getting a new bike next year and have a canny few in mind.I wouldnt mind some opinions on carbon bikes as one of the bikes on my shortlist is the new commencal meta 5.5 carbon. If you crash them, does the carbon, chip, weaken etc,and would I be better off with a really high spec alloy bike for the same money?

Hi mark. I read your comment on mtb racing forum about you thinking of doing some cyclo cross events this winter and that you are looking for a cx bike. I was looking at the allterraine cycles web site and thought of you. There is a great deal on the giant tcx 2 2009. Cost £690 but they are offering 3yrs free credit £170 deposit and £14pm 3yrs. I have just bought a specialised trycross comp 2008 £900 for this years cx league but if i saw this deal first i would have gone for this hands down. there was lots of riders on the tcx last year and they are a verry popular cx. the website is www.allterrainecycles.co.uk. If you fancy a go of the autum league check out the neccl website. this should be a good mini series a chance to check things out before the winter series starts. Are you still doing selkirk this weekend. might see you there ray.

Youre right Mark the cost of a helmet is nowt really compaired to the consequences. I only looked over it the other day noticed the outer had that opaque tinge to it you find with stressed plastic exactly where impact was, and ive had two heavy bangs on that side , both happen to be the last couple of trips out. I was only surposed to be testing a new bike out!!!
