Seriously considering it. Only thing that's stopping me is I don't know if I can commit all the time needed to a proper training schedule. I'm working it out now. If I do I'll be converting the wifes rockhopper into a lightweight enduro machine.

MTBNE Christmas Outing

I want to get a trip up to Glentress one weekend before Christmas organised. Anyone else interested and want to tag along and have a laugh at the daddy of trail centres? Red / Black / park/ Inners, not bothered. With the winter setting… Continue

To complement Crispys blog just grabbed this of the KTR website. New trails / park opening in the NE - can only be a good thing. :)

Dirt School

Went up to Glentress on Friday with the wife so I thought I'd just be having a laugh on the blue route with her then possibly a quick blast on the red on my own. How wrong I was: she'd booked me on to the XC course that Dirt School run as an early birthday present. I can't recommend it highly enough: I learnt more about bike handling in that day than I did in the previous 10 years. The guy taking the class (Andy Barlow) is a national XC champion and has done the black route at Glenners in 1 hour… Continue

New Kielder Trails

Lifted straight from the KTR website (posted by Alex Mac)

All,
Seems the updates are not getting through from the project to this website, please find our intended dates for the new trails opening this year.

1, New Red Trail starts at Lewisburn goes past the lonesome tree which you can see on the distant skyline as you walk down to Kielder Castle from the Kielder Car Park.
The trail comes in behind the former Kielder Garage, so you will see the end of the trail as you drive into Kielder.

Tough climbing mate - but loved the black (especially the 2nd and 3rd sections!) Rich managed to snap his frame too! (cruel place for a hard-tail).
A few of the jumps on the red need some tlc - too many people jamming their anchors on when they land.

Nightmare, shame as it's a cracking ride. I'll try and get a day pass in the near future and give you a bell as I'm always up for doing that route.

We like it bumpy too!

When you talk about the figure of 8 crossover, do you mean that instead of turning left to climb up towarsd Skallys Riggin we'd turn right and go down "into the valley" and then turn left onto the black? I'm looking at the pdf map off the Reivers site...

Andy, I'm going to Kielder on Thursday (for the first time) - d'you fancy coming along? What do you reckon is the best route? Lonesome or Deadwater?

Hi Andy, probably 5th April, been a shitty month for me riding wise and I've been struggling to get a full day ride in at all. I'll stick a post in the events section when I get a sec, PC is dead so I'm having to use my fisher price, wind up work laptop which is quite frankly shite.
