As most people know I had the same bike for a few years, threw it at everything and although it suffered a little towards the end, it was a wonderful ride.

Would like to be out on the bike more, work takes up a lot of time , enjoyable for sure but reduces getting on the saddle, instead I spend a lot of timing in meetings trying to help mtb'ing the North East.

Going to get away some weekend this year and actually ride some trails..

Got a newer bike

Just bought the 2007 Norco Fluid 3.0 from Wood n Wheels that they had siting for a while, with the new trails at Hamsterley and Kielder, reckon the extra travel is going to come in handy.

Why a Norco?- well in 2006 rode two Norcos in Canada and was really impressed with Norco, also I think it is important to buy from local mtb centres as they bust a gut in the forests.....

Means the 2004 Giant NRS get downgraded to the 16 year old, its still a good bike but has plenty of war wounds.
Just got… Continue

SNOW GO OUT THERE in the NE mtb trails

Folks,

Speaking to a number of riders in the last day or two it seems folk are wondering what the snow is like at both Hamsterley and Kielder before heading out this weekend to ride.

Those of you who have been riding out there recently it would be good what you are finding and put a note up on this thread.

I heard this afternoon Hamsterley has still got a lot of snow further out into the forest and the roads are not that hot either so not that great for riding.

Up at Kielder, expect to meet… Continue

Hi Alex,

Any more news on opening dates of the new stuff up at Kielder? I'm trying to arrange a couple of all day summer rides with the guys at work and was wondering when the new route up to Bloody Bush opens?

Thanks for any extra info you can give.

"Another big event coming to the region in 09, at Hamsterley more details coming before Christmas.

Also another one in the melting pot for Kielder and wait for it a full on downhill in a brand new location in the North East!!!!!

All will be announced around the end of December, game on the North East is going to have a cracking number of mtb events in 2009.

Thanks for your quick reply to the discussion on trail damage.
Can i start by saying there was no implications of a hidden agenda made in any of the comments by trail users.Sorry if thats what you read into it.
As you are very well aware, having been in contact with the group for sometime now. That we take it very personaly when our trail is damaged in any way shape or form.Thats because we've had to fight tooth n nail for everything we've ever had.
We're all very grateful for the help and support we've received in recent years from the FC.Funds,Dougie and a voice of authority where its been needed.I guess we're just feeling a little neglected and over looked as of late with regards to Chopwell.
Thats why i asked for your help.
Boney.
