MTB North East

Everything about Mountain Biking in the North East of England

Done this race at the weekend found a lot of good riders racing in this race to my suprise.
After a heavy weekend on the drink last weekend in london and been on the wrong shift last week to do any training last week. I decided to give the expert class a miss and see if i can do ok in the seniors. After finishing 4th in the time trial i wanted to do better in the race. I got a bad start and it never got any better in the race finishing 12th overall out of 56 who started. My finishing time was 1hr 33mins and if i went into the expert race that time would have got me 4th. Enjoyed the day but i wished i had prepaired better. I will have another stab at this next year in the experts and try for a podium finish with better preperation. How did all the others get on.

I was in the same group as you Ray,in fact Im sure I saw you down by the toilets. I was somewhat slower at 1hr 50mins having popped a front brake seal on the first lap and trying to control the muddy downhill sections near the roller coaster with only one brake. Did you see the young lss who had broken her leg?

Well done mark thats not a bad time without a front brake. I think i did see the lass who broke her leg. Did she do it on the first drop off going into the woods. Didnt realise she had broke it could see she was in a bit of pain. Dont know about you but i found that last lap hard going.

Yeah it was that first drop,it was a bit slippy going down there, especially with a back wheel locked up and not slowing down, lol. The last lap killed me too,the mud was bad enough at the start but on the third lap it was awful, like riding through glue.Very enjoyable in a strange way though.

I am having a break now from mountain biking but still going to finish the cyclo cross league just so i dont completely go rusty. Thinking of going to dalby after the new year to blow the cobwebs off and get some early training before the kielder winter warmer 2010. do you mark & simon and may be a few others fancy meeting up for that. Maybe 1st or 2nd sunday after the new year.
