If you do make sure you've got the grippiest rubber tyres on you can find - it's bloody slippy.

The Borrowdale Bash route we did at the weekend was great, goes from Keswick which is just before Whinlatter so you could do both. Check out the ERFD on 5th April page in the rides/events section for all the info. If you do it just make sure you've got a fair amount of pressure in the tyres for all those rocks!

Back o'skiddaw also a good route if you are staying around the Keswick area (could do that and Whinlatter in same day). Loads of good stuff in the lakes though. Some excellent stuff around Ambleside (try Biketreks for a bit of local knowledge). Some great stuff around Conistion and Grizedale area (and i don't mean TNF trail, although you could use bits of it combined with the natural stuff to make a good day out, Parkamoor, Walna scar etc). Wanting something more hardcore then try Helvellyn and Dollywaggon pike. The 3 passes of Garburn, Nan Bield and Gatesgarth make a great if bloody hard day out. The options are almost endless!
