MTB North East

Everything about Mountain Biking in the North East of England

dont take anything back to this shop as you will accused of being a liar! Took an item of clothing back as I had tried it on once and it was to small. To be told by some assistant in front of other customers that they would not change it as I had worn and washed it. He was very friggin abrupt and cocky. This went on for about 15 minutes then he said in a very patronising manner that he would cahnge it if I could find the lable.

This is the shop that advised me that my front brake on a bike a year old (which has been repaired 4 times at my cost) needs grit or mud in it to make it work!!!!!!!!!!

Wont ever go back

My problem i am no expert, far from it.

yeah that sums up your whole experience, to me it seems you have complained about having a clean well lubricated chain, oil + grease etc are tacky in fact i would say the lubrication on a new chain is of much higher grade than your standard finish line oil, as for using muc off on the chain, wrong. Muc off (the pink stuff) is a cleaner and as far as i know is not a degreaser so to use it on your chain seems quite pointless, muc off do offer a chain cleaner which is a different matter. Dust sticks to oil/grease any form of riding means regular cleaning of chain/bike, perhaps if you do a little research first and don't steam in head first complaining about absolutely nothing then you may find staff a little more helpful and your cycling experience overall will benefit, but meh that's just my 2c worth what would i know.
I've moved this to the "local bike shop section" and closed the thread (should have done both ages ago).

There are not many rules on here, but one I believe in is:

If you have a tale of your LBS going above and beyond the call of duty, lets hear it. Soon enough the cream will rise to the top! If you have an issue with an LBS, please take it up directly with them. NEGATIVE POSTS WILL BE DELETED.

It's easy to bash bike shops when something goes awry, especially larger places like Evans and Halfords, but I think you can get a clearer picture of if a place is worth using by the number of positive things you hear about it, rather than listening to any negatives, as people are much more likely to post on t'internet when they are pissed off.
