MTB North East

Everything about Mountain Biking in the North East of England

so then, times come when i see and want.
while fannying on sorting new pads for my bike, i seen a Hybrid, does anyone have any experience of these mountain bike look a likeys with thin wheels?
would it be a wise investment for commuting and going on miles and miles rides.

stick with a decent xc bike as a hybrid is just a compromise of road and xc and is better than niether.

road miles road bike
fun miles x/c bike

as for any commute knock up an old skool hardtail with a few bombproof parts and you're sorted

i currently just have a HardTail, but seen a hybrid and liked the look of it, and thought i'd be to get the speed up on the commutes and do more climbs.
was saving up to get a little motorbike so might keep the pennies for that.

Gotta agree with psycho, hybrids are neither summat or nowt. Just a flat handlebarred road bike. At least with a xc bike you've got the option of either on or off road. Cyclocross bikes maybe a better bet.

cyclo-cross eh?
see plan is (without telling "those in charge" haha) is to have a Hardtail, a Speed bike and a Ful sus type thing in time for summer.
i might ask in evans if i can have a blast on the hybrid see if i really do get "the speed" i think i might, if not im tempted to just buy a cheap ass roadie.

I used slicks on my boardman to commute to work 28 mile all in, but wasn't doing much off road, why not get a cheap set of wheels put slicks on and do that? saves changing tyres all the time...and a lot cheaper.

that was one idea, but i'd have to get the same rotors etc.
this bike i seen is like £299 which is probably not much more in the end. just a cheap one Scott Evo i think it is.

just put the money towards a full susser or the motorbike you want. Dont bother waisting £££ on a hybrid
