I have been planning to do the coast to coast in a day with my mate dave wed aug 5th. But he keeps hinting that his lasss wants to go away the first weeek in aug and she wears the trousers in that house. So i am wondering if anyone is interested in the ultimate challenge 135miles in one day. The plan is my wife will drop us off at whitehaven on tuesday afternoon when she finishes work. We will book into a b/b and set off as early as possible on wed morning 8.30 or 9.00. the plan will be to reach roker before it gets dark. 9.45pm. we will stop for lunch at the top of hartside or alston 45mins. 12hours on the saddle will be our target but we shall bring lights just in case things dont go to plan. I am doing it on my cyclo cross bike but a road or mtb will do the job just the same. it will only cost £10 fuel & £25 b/b. even if dave does still do it we can get 3 bikes on the rack.Lots of people have done the CtoC in 2 or 3 days but not many can say they have done it in one day.

Hi lee. I am not super fit but i feel that i have reached a good level of fitness now. I do lots of xc racing and mtb endurance stuff 6hr & 24hr enduros. I do verry little on the roads so this is all a bit new to me. I am training hard for mountain mayhem at the moment in june then after that the road work starts. May be next year ray.
did it in a day last year, made a 6am start which got us onto roker pier at 7 in the evening. left plenty of time in case of mechanicals etc....great experience....might do it again this year but will be a weekend day. Tip: miss out Mungrisdale when you leave Keswick.....saps your energy big time and is a 8km diversion....just follow the A66 - I will next time!!!
