Hi all, I have just got an E13 bash ring 44t the idea to still have the full range of gears with a guard. Is there anyone out there who is running 3 rings and a guard. I think i may have to grind a bit away along the crank arm groove to give it more space for mech clearance etc.
Anyone got any ideas?
thanks

You can't run 3 rings and a guard - the bash-ring is to replace the big cog.
i used to run a blackspire big ring protector on my norco, that's specifically designed to work with a triple chainring up front, never had any problems with it.
Well there you go - every day is a learning day! Not sure if the supercharger is the same as the Blackspire Big Ring - but it looks the same (doesn't it?) - I would think that you shouldn't need to grind anything off to make it fit though....
I used to have a tooth fairy on my Specialized and used a triple chainring set up with out any grinding or adjustments necessary.Might be worth lookin at an alternative bash gaurd if your gonna lose some gears.Just a thought.
I have tried with the big ring reversed which kind of works but the E13 is a bit on the thick side. I was thinking of grinding a bit more of a groove along where the crank arm fits, this would then push the guard out giving clearance with the aid of washers. But reluctant to start grinding a new piece of kit if I don't need to...

or just buy the right bash guard........
e*13 superchargers are designed to replace the big ring, not work with it.
If you want to run a big ring with a bash, you will have to get a different one
e13 bashguard wont fit with three rings you want to try one of these puppies:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=31508

It fits in place of a bottom bracket spacer (like the old chain devices used to) and is a bash guard as well as preventing the chain falling off on the inside

I keep meaning to get one for my hardtail after going 90 degrees off a log at whinlatter and grindingthe chainring on my new slx chainset.
To be honest, i think you're wasting you're time and money with this. A bash ring isnt required for xc riding. I only run one on my DH bike, and dont see the need for it on my xc bike. And believe me, my xc bike gets some abuse....
Ok then...does anyone want to buy an Ethirteen 44t bash guard not used only tried to fit but couldn't...?
You know what i was telling Neilinboro not to bother because if you fall on the ring it isn't going to save you. I guess it will have to be one of these if i really need to get one. Like the lads have said xc don't need them and i'm more xc than dh

just get a cheap steel big ring it'll be lighter than fuckin about with the bash guard and when you knacker it it'll be a couple of quid to replace. don't start grinding things that are designed to be strong it'll only lead to tears!
