Event Description

The Evans Cycles Ride It! events comprise a series of organised road and off-road rides that are designed to take the hassle out of your weekend riding. The rides are non-competitive with an emphasis on riding with other riders, riding in new areas and sampling some of the best cycling the UK has to offer.

“The format works really well, even during the cooler winter series up to 300 mountain bikers were turning up to take in some thrilling descents and do battle with the mud,” says Event Manager Dean Stacey. “But summer is the time when riders head out in their droves. For those that want to broaden their riding horizons, ride in new areas, meet new people and not worry about the hassle of organising a thing then Ride It! is the perfect option.”

For those riders that are using GPS the Ride It! team also publish GPX files to download and help with navigation. “Routes can be downloaded from our blog site evanscyclesrideit.blogspot.com where riders can also find out last minute info on the events as well,” says Stacey.

I did the Gateshead round a month or so back and it was alright. There was a lot of tarmac involved but I especially the liked the self navigation section, kind of like orienteering only on a bike. The staff weren't pushy at all, in fact other than the fact it started and ended outside an Evans shop you probably wouldn't have known it was organised by them.
